Kathy Carlton Willis serves as publicist for nonfiction authors, speakers, and events. She provides PR for book campaigns, developing a media kit, media lists, and blog tours. She also has packages available to assist clients in writing marketing plans for future books, doing author branding, and helping book authors query magazine editors with article ideas, to develop name recognition. She thinks outside of the box to create buzz at the grassroots level.

Press Kit
• Write an engaging press release including book summary, author bio and utilize press photo, book cover photo, and sales information.
• E-mail to 50 media and provide 1 one follow-up. (If you request more media, we will negotiate rate.)

Media Campaign
• Read your book and plan the book campaign “pitch” based on themes, concepts, principles and current events
• Customize media list of glossy magazines, radio, television, newspaper, and internet for campaign
• Develop mailing list for ARC and/or press kit
• Target appropriate media for author interviews and book reviews
• Submit press releases to appropriate media, utilizing current events and book signing dates
• Prep clients for interviews and media tours-providing coaching tips and assistance in preparing suggested interview questions
• Find appropriate venues for author to serve as “expert” on a subject
• Follow up via telephone, mail or e-mail
• Provide client with regular activity reports

• Able to design a more customized campaign with the longer timeline
• Will pitch to glossy magazines who require more lead-time than other media resources

Blog Tours
• Customize a blog tour by utilizing standard database as well as research for extra blogs who have similar audiences as the book
• Provide blog hosts with interview Q&A, press release, and other tour specialties to go with the theme of the book
• Design contests and themes to match book personality

I had just about written off PR people until I met my current publicist. The two I hired before did very little that I could see. I got more interviews than they did and I found them both to be very unresponsive.

Enter Kathy Carlton Willis. I met Kathy at the Blue Ridge Christian Writers Conference and we connected immediately. She has a heart for my ministry and understands my passions. LifeWay agreed to hire Kathy to help get the word out about SomeOne Cares. They were amazed that for a first conference we had 155 registered. Evidentially that's one of the largest first-time LifeWay-sponsored events they have ever had. It's hard to sell a concept and not a conference and so I can imagine next year will be much easier.

 Kathy writes great press releases, loves research and has found so many outlets I'd never have found to send information about the conference. She is cheerful, fun, a hard worker and loves to brainstorm.

 After working with Kathy I knew I could never be without a publicist so I have hired her personally to help me as well as helping me to promote future conferences. She was onsite at Ridgecrest and it was wonderful having a set of eyes and a heart so in tuned with what I know is God inspired.

 Besides arranging blog tours, getting radio and TV interviews, article placements, etc., Kathy prays for me and my ministry. I know God is going to take this places I never have dreamed and I can not do it alone. Kathy is a great addition to the team.
