The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing

Being Well in Body, Soul & Spirit

Being well begins from the inside out

This book is not just about Kathy’s weight-loss and wellness journey. It’s a guide for your pursuit of wellbeing. It doesn’t provide a program for temporary behavior modification but a process for permanent God-led change.

On Kathy’s quest for improved health, she discovered wellbeing is a balance of body, soul, and spirit. Her coaching style recognizes struggles, victories, aha! moments, and goals. She offers honesty, humor, and occasionally—homework!

The first section has chapters with the following features:

  • Heartstrings (Stories)
  • Heavenly Insights (Bible Study)
  • Help Me! (Tools for Equipping)
  • Homework (Making it Real)
  • Health Check (Evaluation for Body/Soul/Spirit)
  • Hurrahs and Happy Dances (Celebration of Victories)
  • Hope Quest (Prayers)

The second section of the book includes practical resources. Join Kathy as a WellBeing Warrior. Activate personal stewardship by creating your own care plan using the tools of this guide. You won’t always see a cure, but you can have a better quality of life. Buy on Amazon.

Kathy’s new book, The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing: Being Well in Body, Soul & Spirit, is a great resource for any woman looking to improve physical and spiritual fitness. What makes the practical support she offers so powerful is that she dedicates sections to prayer and Bible study in every single chapter. Truly, a faith and fitness lifestyle is incomplete without these. Instead of presenting wellbeing as an ideal lifestyle to attain, she drives a better perspective—that God calls all of us to a life of stewardship. Get the book for yourself and a friend, not because you want to do fitness better, but because you want to be the light of Christ for yourself and others.

As someone who has been maintaining a 100+ pound weight loss for many years and today runs the Faithful Finish Lines online weight-loss program, allow me to encourage you to read this book. Kathy writes with heart, clarity, and compassion about the struggles we face as we attempt to follow God’s directions in taking care of our physical, mental, and emotional health. What I love about Kathy’s perspective is that she weaves God’s voice and the wisdom of scriptural truth into every section of the book. Plus, she brings her delightful sense of humor into the mix so that you’ll walk away feeling encouraged and refreshed. I will be recommending a copy to women who work with me.

The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing is well laid out with thought-provoking chapters. If you were to ask me to write a book from owning a CrossFit gym for eleven years, then this would be the book I would write. Incredible! I love how it addresses the motive of having a wellbeing focus for God’s glory. This guide reflects my heart and soul. It handles fitness correctly and helps produce biblical wellness that’s actually sustainable for life. Kathy Carlton Willis truly nurtures the body, soul, and spirit. I’m not only inspired to keep moving but to look deeper at my “whys.” The book ends with resource chapters relevant for putting into practice what Kathy effectively empowers you to do!

As a certified Wellcoach® and life purpose coach, I know to take care of our bodies we must focus on improving the health of our minds, souls, and spirits, as well. Kathy’s book speaks to me in fresh and new ways to connect with my inner being.  It motivates readers to set goals that nurture and rejuvenate every aspect of wellbeing. One of the ideas that stood out to me was her recommendation to go on a worry fast. Her emphasis on walking away from legalism to find wholeness also resonated with me. The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing is a must for every woman who desires to be healthy and fit inside and out as a way to bring honor to God.

I’m a huge fan of The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing. It’s a perfect mix of inspiration and practical information to help motivate and support readers on their wellness journey. As a wellness professional and a Christian, I love Kathy’s focus on the Word of God as foundational to making real progress in our lifestyle goals. A healthy life is one that encompasses our mind, body, and spirit, and the author does a fantastic job of balancing all three. She offers a holistic approach to wellness that is unique in the health and fitness industry and so refreshing!  I especially enjoyed her emphasis on “soul-care” over “self-care,” a commonly misunderstood element of wellbeing. If you’ve ever struggled with guilt for making yourself a priority, then this book will help you overcome that mindset and move forward with freedom and joy. I highly recommend this book to anyone ready to make positive changes in their mind, body, and spirit!

I’m a practical person, so I gravitate to stories that not only inspire me but also grab my hand and show me an attainable path. That’s exactly the tone of Kathy Carlton Willis’s new book The Grin Gal’s Guide to Wellbeing. Her immediate connection as a fellow struggler on the whole lifetime search for balanced health put me at ease and helped open my mind and heart to the specific suggestions she made with each entry. This is a book to not just read but to work through and experience—which is how any transformation occurs. I found the chapter prompts especially helpful: Heartstrings (stories), Help Me! (tools), Heavenly Insight (Bible), Homework (dig in), Health Check (evaluation), Hurrahs and Happy Dances (celebration), and Hope Quest (prayer). If you’re ready to do the work, let the Grin Gal take your hand.
